A Benchmark for Dance Instruction Worldwide

Since opening, Fred Astaire Dance Studios have been a benchmark for initiating the most consumer-friendly dance instructional guidelines in the world.

We who carry the trade name Fred Astaire Franchised Dance Studios are immensely proud to do so. We have an obligation to uphold the fine reputation of the master dancer in everything we do, from the moment you walk through our door for the first time, until you leave as a better dancer. One of our slogans is “Fred Astaire Dance Studios – The happiest, friendliest place in town”, and this would not be possible without our wonderful students at each and every studio while engaging in a pleasing, beneficial activity… dancing!

The Beginning of Fred Astaire Dance Studios

In 1947, Fred Astaire, along with his partner Charles Casanave, Sr., a retired motion picture executive, opened the very first Fred Astaire Dance Studio on New York City’s famous Park Avenue. It was an instant success, and the company soon began opening franchises throughout the world, becoming a pioneer in the franchised business.

The foundation of the business then—and today—is the dance programs personally designed by Fred Astaire. Throughout the years and decades that followed, the company grew rapidly as studios opened worldwide. Proudly designed by Fred Astaire himself, our classes are held to the same standard now as when they first opened.
